On November 28, Taro Ariga, CEO of e-bogu.com Inc. passed his Kendo 7th Dan at Tokyo Budokan, in Tokyo. In recent years, 7th Dan examination in Kendo has become very difficult due to the fact that the highest rank obtainable in Kendo has been set to 8th Dan. On November 28, there were 1,853 players, and only 188 passed the exam.
"I came a long way to get this 7th Dan. I have been trying it for the past 2 years, and this was my 4th trial. Being an amateur Kendoka, this may be my last Dan. I really wanted to get the 7th Dan in Japan, so I have been challenging it since 2005. I would like to thank all my Senseis, and fellow Kenshis that took so much of their time to help me train, and also my family who supported me all along.
